Hello, and why this blog exists

This is the first post on carl-gustav.dev. It’s going to be a long blog.

For the last several years I’ve been writing in one place or another — scattered notes, a half-maintained Swedish blog, threads that disappeared into timelines. Enough of that. This site collects the writing in one place, organized around the seven territories I actually think in:

  1. AI & Autonomous Systems — I run a company where AI agents do most of the work. The infrastructure to make that reliable is non-trivial, and I’m going to document what actually works.
  2. Homelab & Operations — Proxmox, OpenWrt, SSH, networking, backups. The plumbing that keeps everything above running.
  3. Web, SEO & Growth — performance, analytics, conversion. How digital products actually reach people.
  4. Building & Leading — running companies, leading teams, the meta layer of what I do for a living.
  5. Markets & Quant — trading, investing, and markets seen from a systems-engineer’s angle.
  6. Ideas & Society — essays on tech, policy, Sweden, the shape of the world.
  7. Health & Life — longevity, metabolic health, and the non-work parts of being alive.

Why so many? Because that’s actually where my attention goes, and I’m tired of pretending it goes elsewhere. Most tech blogs are monotonic — AI or homelab or product — and readers who follow the author eventually wonder what they think about other things. I’d rather just write about the other things.

The bet: thinking quality transfers across domains. If I write well about LiteLLM fallback chains, I’ll probably write well about monetary policy too. If the voice is consistent, the range becomes an asset.

This blog will also be bilingual over time — a Swedish version lives at carl-gustav.se, and the company I run is at forgenord.com. Different audiences, different purposes, same person.

First real post coming soon. Subscribe via RSS if you want to know when.
